Chakra Spiral Rug

This Kharad rug is a collaboration between apparel company Umber & Ochre and multi-disciplinary artist Llane Alexis. Kharad weaving is a traditional craft of nomadic communities in the Kutch region in India. The thick texture of this rug adds warmth and softness to intimate spaces. The spiral design and the spiraled knots represent the cyclical nature of life and are signature elements of Llane Alexis' art practice. The wool and cotton blend fibers are durable and dyed with natural indigo and iron dyes. Though there are very few artisans of this craft practicing today, Umber & Ochre are working to preserve this tradition.
