Heath Ceramics is one of fifteen American companies taking part in imogene + willie’s 15th anniversary celebration. Inspired by the brand’s experiments in indigo, we combined some of our most beloved blue glazes to create two dynamic, limited-edition vases.
Many of the beautiful blue glazes we have created over the years have depth and variation due to the use of raw natural oxides and minerals. For this project, we explored applying some of our favorite blues over each other in different ways; spraying, spattering, brushing to achieve something unexpected and dynamic.
Each piece was glazed by hand by a small team, with subtly different results, which we celebrate. These products were made start-to-finish in our original dinnerware factory in Sausalito, CA.

i+w x Heath Ceramics Bud Vase
The glaze on the bud vase is the result of one glaze sprayed over another in a soft gradient, which turns into an organic array of dots when they melt into each other while fired in the kiln.
i+w x Heath Ceramics Multi-Stem Vase
The glaze on the multi-stem vase is a deep matte indigo with a carefully applied spatter of glossy, semi-translucent glaze. A variety of colors and textures are created in each spatter when the two glazes melt together in the firing.
The imogene + willie x Heath Ceramics collection is available in extremely limited quantities. They are available for purchase online at the imogene+willie website and in the Heath San Francisco showroom. Visit us to see the glazes in person and to purchase.
